BM&S Partner Lisa Black Serves as Panelist for NYLS Legal Association for Women’s Annual Symposium
Black Marjieh & Sanford LLP Partner Lisa Black served as a panelist for NYLS Legal Association for Women’s Annual Symposium at New York Law School on Thursday, April 18. This event was titled “Are Times Really Changing: Female Perspectives on the Legal Profession’s Glass Ceiling”.
Panelists shared perspectives on opportunities for women in the legal profession with a focus on mentorship and leadership opportunities, and the role diversity and inclusion plays in the conversation about the advancement of women in the legal profession.
“The speakers brought diverse perspectives from women with many years of experience to those just starting out,” said Black. “We hope the students got a realistic perspective on how women are still navigating the legal profession, how important culture is in a firm, and how to make yourself stand out and become indispensable as an attorney.”
As a founder of BM&S, Black creates an inclusive and collaborative work environment that fosters innovation and excellence. On a personal level, she is motivated by a drive to help students and younger professionals find their own passion for the law and volunteers as an alumni-student mentor for New York Law School and Binghamton University.
The event also featured keynote speaker Julie Muniz, moderator Nicole Sheindlin, and panelists Kim Kalik, Helen Quigley and Alexis Axelrad.
